I bought a few cards off friends when I bought and remodeled my first house. I had friends who were renting and didn’t need anything or have room for new furniture.

Don't need any appliances or lumber etc. Any out of the box ideas as to what to do when one doesn't need typical Home Depot stuff. I researched and I can't buy gift cards with a gift card - not at HD. TIA.

Sell it on ebay for $490.00.

Umm you forget eBay fees and PayPal fees.

Doesn’t expire. Keep it for when you do have a house. Won’t devalue.

Vacuum? Hardwood steam cleaner?

There's no expiration date so why not hang on to it for a year or so. You might find your living situation change in which you do indeed find yourself needing HD - contractor for XYZ, appliances, grill, garden stuff, etc.

Re-gift

Sell on FB Marketplace

Even if you can find things cheaper elsewhere...they are literally free to you right now at HD. Spend it or sell it to a friend for the full amount.

OP. I am on a very tight budget. Actually even the dying phone I was thinking of replacing with an older model, used from Ebay so don't have the bandwidth for seasonal items, luggage or furniture etc.

Aunt wanted to help out as it's not been a great couple of years for me and she was likely re-gifting. She is of limited means herself. We met after 1.5 years. I tried saying no but she felt offended so I took them. I now have 5 X $100 GC.

I am on my sister's Costco membership so get home supplies there. I was just wondering if there is stuff at HD that may be cheaper. I guess paper towels, TP it is for the next 5 yrs.

I tried looking at sites to sell the GCs but with fees didn't think that was a great idea. Thanks all.

So let me recap: You don't want to sell it for cash. You don't want to buy anything useful or decorative for your place. You don't have any need for home improvement supplies. You prefer to buy paper goods at Costco.

Stop asking for help if what you really want to do is pout that your aunt didn't buy you a new phone.

Emergency supplies (flashlights, batteries), sharpies, duct tape, masking tape, tool kit (even if you don't own a house, you might need tools to do home maintenance in a rental), vacuum cleaner, room lamps, light bulbs, brita water filters (sink attachments or pitchers), cleaning supplies, picture hanging supplies, command strips, extension cords, power strips, closet organizers, storage bins/boxes, storage shelving (including small ones), bathroom supplies.

Just the things that I can think of off the top of my head that renters would also need.

2 pages of good ideas Op, but seems like you're rejecting all of it.

Curious - what is your living situation? Condo? Apartment? Renting?

Just wondering why you would never need to buy HD stuff like a grill, appliances, ceiling fan, plumbing items, paint, windows, or need a contractor for something or rent a pickup truck for the day.

Seems like you're desperate for cash - SO buy something at HD and re-sell it on FB Marketplace - obviously at a discounted price/way lower than what you "paid" for it - but it didn't cost you anything and you'll have cash in your pocket.

Got any friends with homes? I'd buy it from you for $490 even or if you were a relative I'd just give you $500. It's like cash to me because we're there that often.

Ask around in your neighborhood, work place or people who work in construction or landscaping etc. I am sure some person can use the gift card and give you the cash value for it.

Heck, I would buy it off of you because I spend so much at HD for just gardening and birding supplies. Where are you located?
