What about staying in Berlin, MD? That way you're only a 15 minute drive to Assateague instead of an hour from Chincoteague. Has anyone done this? Any feedback? I know it's covid times, but we're looking at staying nearer to Assateague yet not camping. |
You’re talking about accessing it from the maryland side. Totally different. When you’re in Chincoteague you can access assateague in less than five minutes (we bike there). |
I think you'd be better off staying in Ocean City than Berlin. There's not much in Berlin -- it's where a lot of the year rounders live who work in OC. Ocean City will not be that crazy at spring break time. The Cambria is a newer hotel at the south end with pretty water views and an indoor pool. Of course, it depends on your comfort level with a hotel. Question for those who know Assateague/Chincoteague well: can we do both in one day in a day trip from Ocean City? We'll be there for a few days in early April. Or would we want to plan to go to Assateague State Park in MD one day and drive down to Chincoteague another day? |
PP again. I just read through an earlier post again. So can you only go into Assateague State Park from the north (MD) side if you are camping, or can you drive in and visit? I'm trying to figure out where we can park and then walk onto whatever beach the horses are on. |
