How many AP classes did your junior take?

Unless your kid is a genius, let them be kids. This is crazy. No wonder kids have so many mental health issues.

Agree. It's crazy they we feel like we're going so against the grain insisting that DD only take three. Our school used to have a limit on the number kids could take but they dropped that because too many parents complained.

Maybe the public schools should stop dumbing down the regular curriculum. If kids need to take all of these college courses in HS, the regular HS curriculum must be for dummies.

+1 Looking at the data for our school only about a quarter of last year's juniors took "regular" US History. There is no "honors" option, just regular or AP. Similarly, there is no non-AP calculus option that might move at a somewhat slower pace. My DD is on track to do calculus in HS but math is a lot of work for her and she'd do better with a slower paced introduction. Not an option. It's frustrating.

1 AP in 9th, 2 AP and 1 DE in 10th, 3 AP and 3 IB in 11th. Tried to talk kid out of some of this in 11th but refused to listen. So far straight As.

Current junior is taking: AP Lang, AP Psych, AP Physics 1, AP Calc AB (took APUSH online over the summer since there wasn't much else she could do)

She has ADHD and I was really worried about this course load but it has been fine. I don't know if it's easier with virtual school or not, but homework is manageable.

Next year she is planning: AP Lit, AP Stats, AP Bio, AP Art Portfolio, and maybe AP French.
