Yes they will. Dose 2 is on 2/15. |
VA’s politcal compromise on school opening doesn’t make it wise. We also don’t do enough testing in Va. Dr. Northam is not exactly impressive Thought FCC was better than that. |
How is it a political compromise if the all-powerful science has provided us with new information through the scientific method? |
I’ve read that Covid is “surging” in my area (FCPS), but from what I see on VDH’s site the % positivity and cases by onset of symptoms have been dropping the past few weeks. One of the metrics schools use is %positive, correct? |
School metrics ARE going away in Maryland: https://governor.maryland.gov/wp-content/uplo...opening-Guidance.pdf
|
I “can” get my 2nd dose 2/21. They wouldn’t schedule it because of supply uncertainty and told me hopefully someone would call me. This is not a guaranteed date. |
Brown School for Pubic Health has extensive guidance on how to open schools even at the highest levels of community spread. They revised their guidance because:

Luckily for you, after two weeks the first dose is amazingly effective. |
I work for FCCPS and have not been given an appointment day or time for the second dose. Have you? 2/15 is 4 weeks after the first dose. I would love to hear that they scheduled the second one for us. |
The surge is coming back down and has been for about a week now. |
That's incorrect. Where did you read that? Kimberly Adams' facebook page? The important number is the 7 day percent positivity rate. That has been steadily and slowly dropping. |
Reading is fundamental. |
That number is A number, but VDOE says the school's most important number is transmission in schools. If transmission in schools is low, then they can have "priority learners" plus anyone else whom they have space for, allowing for mitigation measures, in school. Transmission in schools is the most important number. |
I predict that within a week or two most if not all school districts in the area will have a reopening plan that is no longer dependent on "metrics." |
Aren’t they going to do the 2nd dose at the high school, like they did for the 1st? |
