Bosch Dishwasher - do I really need to use Finish brand detergent?

This is stupid! I use Cascade platinum plus and Cascade power dry in my Kenmore also Made by Bosch without issues!

This is so stupid! The repairman has no idea what he's talking about! This is BS! Only use finish? This is bull!

I didn’t even know I was supposed to.

My Bosch came with a sample stash of Cascade tablets and I've been using it for years. Your repair guy is an idiot.

I see on the Bosch website that they strongly recommend Finish detergent. This is most definitely due to product placement paid for by the detergent maker. It's been a long time since I used Finish (formerly Electrosol) and, honestly, Cascade is a better product. There is no way it is damaging to your dishwasher.

We use cascade or Seventh gen powder and our Bosch is still going strong after 14 years.

I refuse to use pods, dishwasher or laundry.

We use Walmart gouse brand generic liquid dishwashing-machine detergent and are happy. YMMV.

I formerly used Cascade powder because that was the best option in my old GE dishwasher. Once we got a Bosch I noticed things weren’t as clean as dishes at my parent’s house (same Bosch model but theirs was several years older). Switched to Finish pods and works MUCH better. I thought it was a BS product placement also but my repairman for the disposal mentioned it as well.

I had a repair person tell me to only use the Miele dishwasher pods. Expensive!
I use the finish pods, I preferred the ones in the wrapper, not the gel coated pod.

Using pods will make the edges of your dishes frayed. Your correll dinnerware will have rough edges. Known problem.

I am shifting from pods to gel now. I do have to do a vinegar rinse in hottest water once in a while to keep it gunk free.

Also, wash the filters often. I do a filter clean every 2 days.

We use Seventh Generation powder in both of ours. The new one uses a ton of rinse aid. And to echo others: be sure to clear the food trap. Ours somehow gathers dog fur?! No idea how; dog doesn't lick dishes or anything... Anyway. It is gross, but a necessary part of those dishwashers.

Finish stinks..chemical smell is STRONG and I'm sensitive to ALL chemicals...this new version smells so strong my husband can't stand it. I agree with previous post..bosch gets a kick back from finish

I have a Bosch dishwasher and want something that works and doesn’t create micruplastics (which I worry the pods do). What’s my best option?
