Completely random comment, but Neil Gaiman and Helena Bonham-Carter are my favorite eccentric creative geniuses. Love anything either of them do. |
Spill the tea, please. Which college? |
Omg people read other things then what you deem as necessary. Gross that you can’t understand that. |
Thank you for this! I love his voice and borrowed Graveyard Book with him reading audio from library a while ago. Glad to have this online access. Such an amazing book. |
This makes me sad as they are both so talented. |
I thought less of Neil Gaiman when I heard he'd taken up with her. She's a nightmare:

He works for good causes. She's her own favorite cause. |
AFP announcing her divorce on PATREON is the most on brand move ever.
She's a monster. Talented, yes, but just so determined to never improve as a human being and never to respond to criticism with anything other than vitriol. |
She's absolutely terrible. The worst thing I've heard about him is that he's a womanizer and his tastes skew young, but normal young, not illegal young. |
+1, especially because he'd also left his first wife, and I wondered if this was because of Amanda. But I still adore Neil Gaiman. There is something strange and magical about the writing in Stardust (movie is cheesy, though). I loved his other books, too, and his Sandman work. He's amazing. I'm such a fangirl that I bought a Pilot custom 823 fountain pen just because I heard this was his favourite one. I follow him on Twitter, and have been an admirer for years. |
Please tell more! |
I would describe her as cold and performative. She was very, very interested in “making art” in a public way. Much less so in connecting with other people. |
I thought she was gay. |

she's talented but she ain't that talented. neil taking up with her was the classic aging guy going for psycho-colorful-exciting-attention woman as a second wife, literary edition, and we all knew it would blow up in his face sooner rather than later. he would promote her all the time, to the dismay and patience-trying of his fans. her raising tons of money, and also being married to an extremely wealthy guy, and paying people in beer is beyond obnoxious. as for neil, he is gifted, but maybe asking himself how he ended up in a life where he's replying to his wife's separation claims on twitter is something worth some serious reflection. |
The most horrifying Amanda Palmer story I've read was about how she staged her suicide and then recorder her then-boyfriend when he found her "body."
She then used that recording on a record many years later. The boyfriend killed himself 6 months after the incident. |
