And just like the typical Tesla hater, you cherry pick the bad, ignore the good, and have probably never actually driven one. Not the other Tesla poster, but I have a Model 3 too, and the ride is absolutely incredible...stunning acceleration and wonderful steering. I guarantee there's nothing close to it in the 40K range. |
LMAO!!! Well, I'm convinced!!! |
DP. 1. Who cares? 2. The Model 3 is actually very fun to drive. |
Thanks for proving my point that Tesla fanboys are willing to put up with a lot of crap because "who cares." |
Please explain how a $100 deposit on a vehicle is a “ponzi scheme”. Do you know how much cash a Tesla has on hand? Hint, it’s in the billions. Tesla isn’t running a scam to keep up with current obligations. So therefore yes, your post was fake news |

Great, thanks for derailing the thread, guys. Glad you cleared that all up.
Tesla owners, do you feel like your cost of car ownership is lower? Is the maintenance aspect less stressful/less of a PITA? Do you all have the whole-shebang wall chargers installed or is anyone using the 220v dryer option to charge? |
| My friend's Tesla (that she bought new about a year ago) is always in the shop. Nonetheless, she loves it. DH agrees with the Ponzi scheme/Teslas are poorly made poster above and would never entertain the idea of buying one. I remember several yeas ago when they had terrible crash ratings. They "redid" the crash tests and, suddenly, the ratings vastly improved. |
What model does she have? |
A point of clarification. I am the "poorly made" poster, but I never called Tesla a Ponzi scheme, that was someone else and I don't agree with that assessment. I am a huge fan of Elon Musk. He is one of my role models in life. I just would never buy a Tesla in its current state because of the poor quality and level of fanaticism necessary to put up with its issues. |
Tesla drivers are willing to put up with some of the valid issues you point out because it's a fantastic car. Most people are smart enough to be able to weigh good/bad when buying a car...it's not a matter of "who cares". My Model 3 is, to put it simply, the best car I've ever bought/driven. The tech is fantastic, the drive is wonderful, and the price is reasonable for what you get. Luckily, my car didn't have any build problems (I inspected it thoroughly before taking delivery) and hasn't had any issues yet. It's sad that you apparently can't envision anyone liking these cars without being a "fanboy". Says more about you than it does us. |
Same. |
The price of ownership is certainly lower. I spent $400 to put in a 240v outlet in my garage, almost $200 of which was refunded by Maryland, and the gas savings are huge, even compared to my Prius, not to mention the joy of never having to go to the gas station. I don't have the wall charger, which means my car charges at at about 30 miles an hour instead of the 40 it would get with the wall unit. Every morning I wake up with a full charge. No oil changes is also nice. |
In our family, there are 4 Teslas from the original S to the newest 3. Small sample, but no one has had any of the issues you mention. One had a repair needed due to vandalism, and Tesla drove to the car and fixed it within an hour. Can't beat that. |
No, that's not what happened at all. They received a few bad scores because of a rare breaking issue, which was quickly resolved by a software update. They always did well in crash tests, and in recent ones, they've gotten the highest scores available. |
