Democrats.

See also: California.

Everything they touch turns to poop.

Hm. That must be why no one wants to live in California.

People are leaving California at record rates. It will be interesting to see what California does when their tax revenue starts to decline.

Why are people talking about Philly? This is about roads in MD, VA, and DC. I’m sure Iraq’s roads are worse than maryland’s but it’s utterly irrelevant.

I always think VAs are worse, much worse, whenever I’m there. And why no streetlights??

Because it is a great place and people keep coming in to visit and move here....too many people=things will break down faster. Always people on the road, so no time for them to block it off and fix it.

Plus, alot of these states have alot of history. It's only in the past 5 years, that you see alot more people have moved into the area.

VA has alot of new areas that have not been developed until more recently, so those roads are new.

Older infrastructure. And all the construction in certain areas of MD are making the roads worse there, bet they will fix them when the construction is over.

+1 lots of Bethesda and Silver Spring are being torn up for Purple Line and related construction.

Seriously, I can't think of anywhere that has good roads these days.

The roads in NoVa are quite nice in most places, except for where construction is active. Maryland is well below NoVa on this.

Not sure about that. The recently expanded roads, sure but some of the others not so much. I remember when I lived in NoVa in Manassas, I would always have to dodge this massive pothole on the way to my job in Fairfax County. They finally repaired months later.

Going back to the original topic, I agree Maryland has crappy roads along with DC and VA. The best roads I have ever driven on have been in Canada but then again they have a much higher gas tax to cover repairs.
