Crisp Percale AND thick sheets

"Percale sheets tend to be cool and crisp, and of the dozens of sets we’ve tried, L.L.Bean’s 280-Thread-Count Pima Cotton Percale Sheet Set are our favorite. They’re soft and breathable, yet more durable than others we’ve tested. We’ve been recommending them since 2014, and while they aren’t the smoothest percale—our upgrade pick from Riley feels a bit silkier—they’re crisp and softer than most percales we’ve slept on. They’re beautifully made, get softer with every wash, and come with a generous one-year return policy. But they’re our only pick that doesn’t come in California king."

Also made in China, unfortunately. I was going to order a set but the LL Bean rep via their chat function confirmed they're made in China.

Just pointing this out for those for who it is important.

I got some sheets that were recommended in this site (can’t remember the name) and they’re like sleeping on trash bags - all crinkly. Are Lands end like that, or softer? I don’t want to crinkle all night.

One person's crinkle is another person's crisp. The thicker a crisp sheet is, the more likely you are to get crinkling.

If you want something silky, get sateen.

OP here, just reporting back that I ended up getting a set of the LL Bean sunwashed percale sheets and I love them! I don't find the cotton wrinkles very much at all out of the wash and they are nice and smooth and cool. Far less wrinkly than my old pottery barn cotton sheets. Not sure how the sunwashed version stacks up against the regular ll bean percale that wirecutter reviewed, maybe I'll get around to getting a set of those for comparison one day.

Lands End has an Italian percale that is to die for (ask to be buried in your sheets). If you want to go really old-school, there's Red Land Cotton, but those are a little above what you want to spend:

Never heard of Red Land but just went on and ordered sheets- more than I usually spend but I love good percale and like their story. I found a discount code for 20% off= FB20

OP, you might enjoy double, or triple sheeting your bed. Very luxurious.

I love my Redland sheets! I ordered them because I liked that they are made, start to finish, in the US. Thick, soft percale — they remind me of sheets my Mom had when I was a kid. Those lasted forever and just got better with age, and I have high hopes for these.

I bought these and they ripped in the wash. Get Brooklinen the lux ones.

Frette or nothing. You choose.

I bought heavy white ones at Costco. I think they were $89.99 for a queen set. I don’t recall the brand, but they are amazing and the only sheets DH doesn’t complain about.

I had just ordered the kids some Company Store 200 percale sheets... are those good quality?

Love love love these.

I bought a king set for around $90 at target. I think they were threshold because that sounds familiar. They are both crisp and heavy. I love sleeping under just the flat sheet at night l, it’s perfect.

I had 300 thread count organic cotton Pottery Barn sheets which just felt soft and worn after a few years.

I've read good reviews of the Threshold 400 threadcount performance sheets on this site, but want to know if they also feel thick or thin on the bed? What about the organic Threshold sheets?

I looked at LL bean and Garnet Hill but their thread count isn't that high.

Considering maybe Crate and Barrel 400 threadcount percale? Brooklinen but their thread count also isn't that high? Company Store?
