You care so much, now's the time to rent your place out at a below market rate. There are so many recent grads who could use the break. Go ahead. |
How specifically will it suck for thousands of people? |
Actually I will sell my place and get the hell out of DC. It is crawling with too many obnoxious millennials. |
Not everyone is a lawyer or lobbyist. Where are all of the GS-5s, secretaries, cooks, custodians and retail folks supposed to live? West Virginia? |
PP, I think the news is good for the region, but I actually agree with you re: service industry and middle class. I wish DC would simultaneously invest in more affordable housing, and 3br apartments/condos for families. |
Maryland is getting cheaper and cheaper by the day. Just pointing that out -- its bordering DC and the LCOL is perfect for individuals looking for a deal. I know people who commute in from Baltimore too - which is the definition of cheap. |
PP here, where in MD is getting cheaper? I live in DC but very near Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, and Takoma Park--a range of different neighborhoods, but none are getting cheaper. |

PP. I think growth may be slowing in some areas of MD, but nowhere do I see evidence that MD is actually getting "cheaper" than it is now. Prices are not falling, but perhaps just increasing at a slower pace than some areas of NoVa. |
What a bad strawman. PG county? |
Alaska would be better. |
| Actually we should build more high speed commuter rail along Marc and VRE, to allow for reasonable commutes from rural Md and VA, with service every 30 minutes in both directions. |
So because some people are poor, we can't have nice things? |
Yes, actually. And that’s ok. Life choices and all that. |
You must have led a very sheltered life if you think that’s sublime. |
