I have used the Bjorn and sling at various times (3 kids)-- and years ago a litle flight vest (that was not FAA approved for takeoff/landing). Some flight attendants told me to take them off for takeoff/landing, some didn't. Mostly I have flown USAir/United, but honestly there was no consistency to it. Usually I would smile, nod and say "of course!" Then once the flight attendants were gone, pop the baby back in (best to get a window seat for privacy when they are very little for nursing and staying out of sight anyway).
We often fly little regional jets and the carseats are difficult to fit in those seats anyway (especially rearfacing). I am going to get one of the new CARES vests once my baby turns 1 (a few flights coming up). They are FAA approved. http://www.amazon.com/CARES-Child-Aviation-Restraint-System/dp/B0012E4FV8?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1259898019&sr=8-1 |

Sounds like this may be too late for the initial poster, but for others wondering about this question, what about using an infant flight vest: http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Air-Toddler-Flight-Vest/dp/B000PQE2P8.
They are FAA approved, and just keep your lap baby from flying away should bad turbulence shake her from your hands. I just got one as a shower gift from my registry and plan to use it when we fly to Paris with a 2.5month old this summer. |
