Arlington Travel for 2010

The girls do not got a big turnout in the early years---though not sure if that is still the case because of DA now. My daughter's U9 year as an 08, I think every girl that came to tryouts got a spot on a travel team.

Arlington tends to have very big player pool because there is no other travel Club nearby that does not involve sitting in traffic for a minimum 35-45 min even if it is techically only 10 miles away. Travel south is awful/bumper-to-bumper and crossing any bridges into DC is a nightmare at rush hour. ASA is its own little island that controls all of the fields in the County, unlike Fairfax county which has tons of different travel clubs and choices.

I've always thought this was sh*t that there are no other options in the County for travel. It's unique in that aspect, being a ONE county Club.

Yeah, it is pretty crazy how big it is. Just think if there was only one Fairfax County club, lol.

Yeah, but Arlington is only 25 square miles vs over 400 for fairfax.

^ do you know how many different clubs are within just 25 miles of Fairfax Co?? I could name at least 10!!

Square miles— if u cut out 25 mile portions of Fairfax Co. My nephew has 6 very viable options in terms of decent and drivable.

jealous over here. Arlington I think either stay with Arlington Club or Alexandria Club. I don't see any other clubs that would be realistic in term of driving distance.

So does Arlington. I live in Falls Church, a couple blocks from Arlington, and I can off the top of my head think of 4 clubs whose practices are closer to us than where my kid's Arlington friend practices. Add in those that are a little farther and there are a lot more than 6.

I wouldn’t come for white if kid made first team elsewhere, as long as drive was convenient. They will likely then play ASA red team and be in same leagues/tournament brackets, etc. At every club, first and second team players get very different opportunities and treatment. Even at clubs that swear they don’t do this.

Really? White is #2 out of 6. Red & White have the same coach and joint practice and play in the same league. I don't believe White is all that much different. At least not Arlington I don't think

Yes to 15:49 - my daughter's friends play for red and white. The teams train together under the same coach and there is the possibility of movement between them. The white team players I know have seen serious improvement since I coached them in rec a couple of years ago, so clearly they're not getting the short end of the stick.

There is also movement up from blue/black/silver. Especially in years where the team rosters expand

My daughter is a U9 with BRYC and has Marc as a coach. She really likes him and now I am annoyed we were not told of the coaching change. This does explain the unexpected email over the weekend to commit within 72 hours to next year.
