OK I'm legitimately embarrassed that I can't remember what mode is! (I've got mean and median down). |
| When will fcps update with more recent data?? |
Cmon, this has been discussed to death. FCPS has AAP; APS does not. McLean attracts families who either want or aren’t intimidated by AAP. Yorktown attracts families who either don’t care about or are repelled by AAP. McLean attracts more families who prioritize schools over commute. Yorktown attracts more families who prioritize commutes over schools. Etc. Find your own beach and let others find theirs. |
Judging by the scores of FCPS vs APS, specifically FCPS schools like Langley and McLean, except for parents in the Washington Lee district there seems to be a lot of parents prioritizing their commute over their kids education. |
Given programs available at different schools in APS, Yorktown neighborhoods boost W-L scores. The opposite is not the case. |

Right
w-L draws high achieving kids away with IB. HB draws away high achieving kids as well. It’s a small system, so these are meaningful factors. And I supposed there are families that prioritize time together. There are have been plenty of studies that would support that decision. What happens at home is most important to children’s development. |
A significant % of would be McLean students are at TJ, so they also experience skimming too. |
36-4 |
And all the MoCo schools worth going to get some kids pulled across town to prop up the east county school with various magnets and what not. Enrichment is the carrot they use to balance everything. Just like the kids the pull from Yorktown |
