Please stop taking pic and video of my kid.

If it's a class in a private studio, talk to management about their camera policy and enforcement. But at a basketball game, you have no control over that.

This. You have no rights to privacy when you are out in public.

No one is looking at your kid but you, OP.

What about in a private facility? If someone tried filming a Zumba class full of women in the gym, the cops would be called. How is a dance studio different or privately rented basketball court different? None of those places are public. They are within the use of those that have paid the private company to participate in the private class/game. My daughters gymnastics class is not open to the public. I need to pay to be there. The basketball game is not a random pick up game. The parents pay to be there. These events are private.

Ask the dance studio to put in blinds. It's gross that the parents thinks that they can just photograph little girls in leotards. The sports groups need to create policy. That way you can vote with your wallet no matter which side of this issue you like.

+1. She needs to get over herself.

Good luck with that. And if you've ever been to a kid's basketball game, yes, all the parents are taking photos there as well. Same as the soccer field, the baseball diamond or the gymnastics gym. IF you want to talk to the dance teacher, then by all means go ahead. Dance class is part of a PERFORMANCE sport. Taking videos of kids performing is very much part and parcel of the whole thing and has been so since portable video recorders were invented. I suspect the dance studio will tell you to find another place to go.

I agree that they are not singling out my child. But my child is being disturbed during the class I am paying for. I really hate the idea of her being spread all over whatever feed for any reason. Maybe, I have to get over it. But it really does seem to be getting out of hand.

How is your child being disturbed by someone taping the class/performance?

Ps. The class is not the performance...which is kinda the point.

How do you, as an adult, work/learn with a camera in your fsce?

Presumably it's not in their face, nor is it a large broadcast-style camera.

Half the time with little kids the class is the performance. Or grandma is in town and wants to go to class and takes a video. Etc.

Exactly, the kids learn in class. The performance is the perfected piece for consumption. Not the class. You can't film a NYCBT class you purchase a copy of the performance.
