People say this about my 7 year old DD all the time. She does look exactly like I did at her age. I don’t see the problem. My DD loves it. |
My DIL says this. Even dresses my grand daughter in clothes like hers. Shoes too. I never comment but the clothes thing bothers me. A little too much. And if I say something, anything, I will be told it's her kid so there's that. I was warned early on to watch what I say. I learned that lesson the hard way. NEVER offer advice unless asked.
The child doesn't look like her mother. She's an exact replica of my son. I never utter that either. And it's not just women that say the phrase, men do it too. My son had a football coach that called his son mini me. |
Unless they look alike, it doesn't work.
If they do look alike, then why not? |
Something tells me you haven't entirely learned the lesson here.... |
+1 |
Is it okay if I call my daughter Funny girl? |
Ha! |
Same here. Also comments about how I've managed to clone myself. A few of my friends from childhood think pictures of me as a baby/toddler/preschooler are my daughter and vice versa. Also, her personality is similar in some ways to mine at her age. I see it a little, but I think she's much prettier than I am/ever was. The only person who doesn't think she looks like me is my husband/her father. |
Hoda on the morning show refers to her daughter as mini me. I don’t think it’s odd if someone says it in reference to a mother looking like her child. I think it becomes a slippery slope when a mother refers to her own child as mini me. |
I agree with grandma. |
I always think the person who says it is probably narcissistic.
At an elementary awards ceremony, a teacher gave a special award and went on for a very long time about how much the student was her mini me. The teacher never explained what the student did that was exemplary; she just went on about how much the student was like her. You are very stunted if what you respond ro most is a mirror. |
You people are way too serious. It's just an expression. |
I think it is very serious. If my mom said that to me I think I would feel invisible. One of the moms I know says this to her 6 year old and I wonder what she is thinking. I cringe every time. |
No one says this |
Like a few of us have mentioned, they do when you have a mini me ![]() |
