Why VA Department of Ed hasn't released School Report card yet?

I just wanted to make sure I am reading this correctly.

When I look at the school test by test results, I see pass rate and adv pass rate.

Do we all agree that the pass rate category includes the adv pass rates? I think so, because if they were separate some schools would have over 100%.

And, the adv pass rate is also given in percentages? Is it percentage of total students who got advanced pass? Or percentage of those who passed, and got advanced pass?

Say there are 100 kids in the grade. According to the excel: 80% pass the SOL. And 20% are adv pass. Did 80 pass total, with 16 of those being adv pass? Or, did 80 pass total, with 20 being adv pass? I think it's the former, but I am not sure.

Pass rate includes pass advanced rate. I assume pass advanced is the percentage those who passed who got 500 or above as opposed to all students, but do not know for sure.

I agree with the PP. The pass rate includes the advanced pass rate, and the number of advanced pass students would be 16 out of 80 passers, with 100 students total taking the test.

This is not right.

If there are 100 kids and the pass rate is 80 and adv. pass is 20 --- that means of all the kids who took the test, 80% passed. 60% were pass proficient and 20% were adv. pass.

Since you are starting with 100 kids, you know that 20 kids got adv. pass. 60 kids got pass proficient. And 20 kids failed. There is no way to know the actual number of kids who got each rating unless you know how many kids were in each grade (and you assume they all took the test).

The 20% adv. pass is NOT 20% of the 80 passing. It is 20% of all the kids who took the test got adv. pass.

I just went to the VDOE website. It does look like the pass rate INCLUDES the advanced pass students and is a cumulative. So if there is an 80% pass rate with 20% of students achieving advanced pass then that means there were 60% of the students who were passing only (400-499).

I deduced this by going to our school district, looking at the overall pass rates broken down by district compared to the state using pass and adv pass scores, and then going back to the main page and looking at the reporting there, where it is cumulative for the state. I could not find any document that states this definitively. I did not watch any of the silly videos but it could be stated on one of those.
