H1N1 Clinics

Yes, the age group that the DC clinics are doing is 6 months to 24 years old. They won't be giving it to the parents though (assuming you are over 24!) and it is 2 shots for everyone 6 months to 10 years so expect to have to go back for the second round in 4 weeks.

Sorry to hijak, but my son and I both got FluMist (nasal vaccine) for regular flu this past Friday. Is there a wating period to get the H1N1 shot, or can we get it right away?

The say to wait a month between FluMist vaccines.

But what if we get the h1N1 shot, not the flumist?

I misunderstood. I think that's OK. (don't take my word for it ... but I think the issue was wait a month between getting one flumist and another flumist.)

As I understand it you can get a regular flu shot and a H1N1 flu shot. But if you are using the mist for either one they can't be combined. I believe it has to do with the fact that the mist is a live vaccine while the shot is a dead vaccine.

I'm not able to find anything on the CDC website about a need to wait 28 days between adminitration of seasonal flu mist and H1N1 flu mist.

They do say you need to wait 28 days between 1st dose of seasonal flu mist and 2nd dose of seasonal flu mist (for children receiving it for the first time) so maybe that's it?

I'm the PP who originally asked... On the CDC website it does say that seasonal flu mist and H1N1 flu mist should not be given together due to reduced effectiveness. But it doesn't say anything about how long the waiting period should be, and if there is any issue with giving flu mist for one, shot for the other. Guess i will be calling the ped. this week!

i think there needs to be a 28 day period between the two mists, but not between the flu mist and the H1N1 shot. so you can't get the H1N1 mist in the next few weeks, you'll have to get the shot.

Thanks for posting this link. There's a little more information there than there was last week -- like the times it'll be open.

The above link isn't working for me, anyone else?

i think someone posted it because there is info about getting a seasonal and swine flu shot not because there is info about clinics...i didn't see any either.

There was info there earlier, but it looks like they took the link down. Nobody can seem to get their act together for this vaccination campaign!

• If the seasonal vaccination was administered via FluMist, there is a 28 day waiting period before H1N1 nasal spray may be administered.

However, there is NO waiting period if:

• Seasonal flu mist was administered and H1N1 vaccine is injected.

• Seasonal flu vaccine was injected and H1N1 nasal spray is administered.

• Seasonal flu vaccine was injected and H1N1 vaccine is injected
