Preschool and Daycare Discussion
| Agreed. If this is a one time or even occasional thing and it's an all day program, a 30 minute episode of Dora is not going to do any harm. Maybe the Dora video gives the teacher a chance to set up for the next activity, clean up from the last one, get snack ready, any number of things. You are being a little over the top. |
| Never. I use my son's tv time for when I am getting dinner ready or need to make a phone call late at night. In other words, I want his limited TV time to be when I am benefiting! I don't pay good $$ so the teachers can take a break. |

OP here -
Thanks for your comments. I am going to discuss it with the director tomorrow. Some things I will ask include clarification on when there will be videos / tv / computer usage and understand how these sessions will be facilitated. I am disappointed - especially since Nick Jr has now infiltrated the classroom. The class took a vote to name the pet fish "Boots" |
| Wow. You are so over the top. |
| I would be looking for another school. |
me too! |
|
Never.
It really is that simple, to me. |
Same here. |
| I would think there is something better for the children to than a video!! Do thye have enough outside playground time? |

Coming from a teacher, I think at preschool tv shouldn't be allowed. I don't like it, if you start it the kids expect it and ask for it all the time plus the parents are paying you to teach, not watch tv with them.
In my opinion, TV is for home. Kids can watch Dora at home and parents can help them link it to their Spanish class. TV has some places in school, but not Dora and not in preschool. |
| I send my kid to preschool to NOT watch TV. Never. |
Ditto. I would definitely complain to the director. Dora teaches, what 3 spanish words per episode? Just take 3 minutes to teach them the words. |
