Of course your 9 and 5 year olds will remember the trip! My 5 year old can distinguish pictures he sees online and name the city/destination (he knows the cobblestone streets in Old San Juan are tinted blue. Whenever he sees a thatched roof cottage and stone fences he immediately calls it the Cotswolds). My kids talk about our vacations all the time. Involve them in the planning, and they'll have a blast! |
| what are you doing in London? the tower of london was great for that age. |
Yep, have started doing some of it already

We have 5 days in London, so wanted to use 1 day for out of town visits. I havent chalked out an exact plan, but yes Tower of London is on the agenda
|
I went on a Haunted London walking tour that was wonderful. |
| We did Salisbury, Bath, Stonehenge. It was an organized bus tour. Fun. Cambridge and York are also nice places to visit. |
Windsor - LEGOLAND! |
|
Our 6-year-old LOVED Portsmouth. The British National Maritime Museum is there, with the HMS Victory. The Mary Rose Museum has the artifacts from the only Tudor ship ever recovered. Take a cruise around the harbor.
If you don't have time for that, you can take the boats on the Thames down to Greenwich. |
Stonehenge is in middle of nowhere. It will take couple of hours to get there from London. Add Windsor or Highclere Castle to the itinerary and make it a daytrip. We did Windsor-Stonehenge-Oxford tour. Unfortunately it was on a Friday before the bank holiday and the traffic was terrible. |
| Royal Observatory, Greenwich You can take a boat from downtown London. |
Thanks Guys! These are all wonderful suggestions Do you have any favorite places for tea as well?
|
| Is there still a hedge maze at Hampton Court Palace? |
We enjoyed the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-themed tea at One Aldwych. |
| Hedge maze is still there! We loved Hampton court palace ( great play area for kids, excellent restaurant, beautiful gardens, and of course castle.) |
| If you do Hampton court keep in mind there's a big water component to kids play area so bring change of clothes. |
