At what income is it appropriate to buy a 200k car?

1 million per year in the bank conservatively invested makes about 20 g. So the way I see it you have about 60 to live on should your husband croak. Guessing you will put your kids in public...cause um...private school tuition is over 40... go ahead buy the car...the fact that you have school loans or had them lets me also know what you may getting down the pike.. seriously, sorry to be harsh but there is something wrong with this...or your generation.... but your man should buy the car..that way we will all know exactly what he is.

Travel is not worth it. Plain and simple. Cars are so much more fun. I am a girl. I will take cars over any travel.

I suppose you could lease it until he gets over his man crisis... that is another option.

As if he will let anyone drive. I didn't let anyone touch my car for a long time. I waited 6 months for it.

I don't think $1.5m is enough, especially if he's just started earning that much. Settle for a Tesla. And focus on building more savings. The challenge with high income jobs is that they can disappear (especially if he's in law or tech) so you need to save now while the money is good.

What is the net worth of your children? I would assume you would be making annual gifts to them before making such a frivolous purchase....

I do not think "she" has any intention of driving the car....

Don't go to this person for a financial advice. Who puts millions in a bank? It's just risky. I guess, one can split it amongst many banks.... Excellent strategy.

In the bank is an expression! Guess I am showing my age... more specifically, widows and orphans stocks and bonds. If you do not know what I mean by that then I can not help you!

also, any bank would be a better bet than buying the stupid car!!!
