You're ignorant. There is no reason to go door to door and "randomly" stopping Latinos to ask for papers. There's no reason to deport people who have been living peacefully in our country since they were children. That does not help our safety.

Try reading the article before setting up your very own strawman.

I read the article and there is nothing wrong with PPs statement. they are literally going door to door, going to schools, holding random checkpoints in unmarked cars asking for documents. They are not just targeting people who have been charged with a crime, as the administration has claimed. They have deported some people immediately, according to the article, and have detained others. Someone please tell me how this makes America more safe. I'd argue it actually has the opposite effect, as it freaks out the entire immigrant community, members of which will no longer report crimes to the police.

There is nothing in the article that days they are doing or did any of ose things. Why would they go to a school? That makes no sense. They don't want to be dealing with a bunch of kids,

It seems to be lost on many people that being in the country illegally is in and of itself a crime. So basically, yes, every illegal person is a criminal.

Not going to argue as it was in the article. Read it again. Even if they are here without documents, doing the random raids is not helpful to the overall safety of the country. It creates an environment of fear and feelings of alienation and resentment (and not only by undocumented immigrants). It's not what this country is about, and there are better, more humane ways.

They are NOT going to schools. Read the article. Kids are afraid, but there are no raids happening at school and there likely will not be. Schools are considered off-limits for ICE.

No having improper paperwork doesn't make you a criminal. But clearly it makes you feel good to tell brown people they're criminals just because of their country of origin.

Immigration activists said the crackdown went beyond the six states DHS identified, and said they had also documented ICE raids of unusual intensity during the past two days in Florida, Kansas, Texas and Northern Virginia.

That undocumented immigrants with no criminal records were arrested and could potentially be deported sent a shock through immigrant communities nationwide amid concerns that the U.S. government could start going after law-abiding people.

First they came for the Muslims. Now they're coming for the Latinos.

As recently as this election immigrant activists were talking about how Obama still hadn't done enough on immigration reform.

Welcome to the new normal.

Remember the massacre in Aurora, Co? He was not an illegal immigrant.

They are picking up those with a criminal record. Many are violent offenders. They are not just picking up people on the street.

Yes they are. Did you read the article? No one has a problem with the deportation of violent criminals but they are detaining and deporting people whose only crime was coming to the country illegally, some who came as children.

I think it's time to start banning white men since they commit the majority of crimes and mass murders.

If you are in this country illegally, you know the risks. Just because you have chosen to ignore the laws does not give you a pass. If you come here and choose to start a family, it does not excuse your underlying disregard for this country's immigration laws. ICE is just doing its job and is not the "bad guy" here.

Are you a criminal when you speed while driving? It's the same type of "crime". Misdemeanor.

Very true. In Los Angeles, where there are tons of illegal immigrants, the police have stated that they won't be out checking for papers. They need and want the community to feel they can trust the police to report crimes.

This is like alienating the Muslim community in this country. Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly stated that we need their help and cooperation, that alienating them will make their jobs harder.
