Yes. We always have, but especially for teens, who are certainly old enough in my opinion to decide what to wear. Along the same lines, I personally oppose the legal double standard of who is allowed to go topless in public.


I've always avoided a gender double standard. When DD got her ears pierced, DS wanted to as well, so I let him. He's not gay- not that it matters.

I teach MS. Lots of teens are out these days. More will come out in HS and college, but an out MS is not that shocking these days.

Most black and Latino boys I teach have a pierced ear. I don’t even associate it with being gay.
