What are you smoking? We're comparing HRC to Trump not Bill Clinton. Your mind is confused. |
+1 I am a conservative-leaning (white) man who has been growing ever more impressed by Hillary as I learn about all the misogynistic nonsense she has stood strongly against. I am actually starting to feel proud about voting for Hillary. She is the right change this election. |
| Yay! |
| I'd bet my life savings on both stories in the OP being 100% fabricated. |
| I am ofbthat era and plenty of men tried to talk women into bed, baby, and marriage so they couldn't be drafted for Nam. Very plausible that the guy wanted to get into law school and a deferment. That's what so many boomer men went to grad school. |
ORLY? Here is at least partial corroboration of the student counsel president story from two female classmates: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/hillary-clinton-high-school-1.3694319 |
Did she try to join the Marines? |
Or preserved their viability the way Bill Clinton or Trump did. Or W. |
Bizarre claim given that most men could get into some law school. Typical male elitist whining. Granted, she's privileged too. |
Silence? |

The comments on this thread make clear to me why so many young women don't feel threatened when Republicans legislate against birth control or abortion. Apparently they don't believe that women were ever routinely denied access to these things. They don't realize that it used to be against the law to obtain birth control, let alone an abortion. And not all that long ago either. Like 60s and 70s.
You people are twisted by your hate for Hillary. Of course there is no way to prove that anyone actually made these statements to her. But it is a fact that these kinds of statements were made frequently at that time. Your hatred of Hillary is blinding you to historical reality. Don't believe her because you think she's automatically a liar? Ok, whatever. But to not believe her because you don't think anyone could have ever made these statements -- sorry, you are wrong. Ask your grandmothers. If you are over 35, ask your mothers. My own mother, when she got a job in 1978 in a not-very-conservative area -- Philadelphia -- was required to supply proof of birth control (a letter from her doctor and a receipt for the meds) before they would hire her because they were afraid she'd run off and get pregnant. They told her this to her face. Now, this is the opposite issue of not having access to birth control, but think about the implications for a minute. How many of you would ever think that could happen today? And just because times have changed, that does not make my mother a liar. This shit happened. Learn some history and get a clue. |
+ a million. And the fact that Trump supporters see absolutely nothing wrong that Trump name calls women who are overweight, flat chested, over 30. and just women in general, says volumes. I've seen the women at Trump's rallies and many fit the bill of the type of women Trump laughs at and despises. But hey, a vote is a vote! |
In the same way that the stories black people tell of their experiences are minimized, there's a conservative line that women never really had it that bad, that we never faced paternalism in medicine, school, or career, or if we did it wasn't that bad, that SAHM had a sweet non-working deal and should have been grateful that they never had to go out and work, that sexual harassment wasn't that bad, and rape only existed for dirty women. When they read personal anecdotes about the experiences of a woman they already despise, with zero reason, it bothers them even more. So of course she's making it up. Dam wimmen libbers. |
Yep. My own mother, a brilliant woman who went to MIT and was one of the first computer programmers, was passed over for a promotion at a large corporation. Her boss told her straight out that she was better, but he gave it to the male candidate because he ha a family to support, whereas my mom had a husband who had a good job. She was also sexually harassed at work. |
Did Trump? Oh, yeah. I forgot. He had bad feet and four for college attendance. |
