| This sucks. Say I do my usual routine of going to Wilson Aquatic. Go to the leisure pool for a while, then go swim in the lanes for a while. How much will I have to pay? I don't understand the pay schedule. |
| And yes you can apply for a waiver. Which means that while vacant houses are all over and not being taxed, homeless people from VA and MD are getting free hotel rooms, and Bowser's buddies get sweetheart deals, the middle class are being squeezed again. Will our council do anything? |
This is only to reserve a pane. The change is the $5 daily entry fee. |
| These fees look pretty minimal to me. |
$5 daily as I'm reading it. |
| Just moved from DC to MoCo and was missing the free pools of DC. Too bad they took the perk away but most jurisdictions charge user fees so this actually makes sense. |
| Whoa -- this is crazy. So what happens to sports leagues like Sports on the Hill? I guess the fees will now be baked into the registration? Same with DC summer camps? |
| I guess I won't be bothering with Wilson pool anymore. |
| This is making me mad. I see money being thrown around on silly stuff, but this is stuff that most DC kids really need. If kids go to play a pick-up game of basketball on one of the DPR courts adjoining to a school, does that mean they need to fork over cash? I don't see that happening at all. |
|
This is ridiculous. I read the newspaper every day and our neighborhood list serve and never saw anything about an opportunity to comment on this. Great job publicizing the opportunity to comment DC.
|
| How much money will they actually make from this? Very ridiculous. |
I doubt they wanted opinions! |
| Can the council overrule this? |
$600 for an annual fee for a family of four. Not minimal. And if you're poor, you can get a waiver. So basically, this is taxing the middle class and those who can't get their act together to get a waiver. I'd argue that those people need the rec centers more than anyone else. |
+1 This was done very sneakily |
