Congrats, OP! Best of luck to you. On my staff of 12, I've counseled people both ways. One or two who want to move up, but options are limited despite stellar performance, so I've supported them when they mention circulating their resume. And in the last year, one who I knew was going to get fired and I was strongly urging to get his resume out there, and a second who wasn't going to get fired but pretty much had ruined her professional reputation in our company so I was casually encouraging her to keep all options open. When she did approach me telling me she had a job offer, I do think she was surprised that we didn't counter but instead said "great, good for you." |
