I'm waiting til they bring in second way houses for paroled black thugs next to your schools. You liberals are the biggest hypocrites the world has ever know.

I'm not liberal, either are my neighbors. Some of us are business owners and immigrants who came here with nothing and worked the way up. Cubans, Vietnamese, Indian/Sri Lankan, Arab. It's a diverse neighborhood. Our Catholic school is very diverse with many Spainish speaking students. But what is an issue is it's a stupid place. When asked what these people would be doing during the day and what about security FFX had no answer

Two elementary schools a stone throw away. One day care, retirement home.

And a senior center. With a daycare, elementary school, private schools as less than 1/10 a mile away I find this an atrocious move. Citizens of the area are concerned for their kids safety as well as the safety of their elderly realitives in the senior center. My daughter goes to the very good Catholic school that is about three hundred yards away. This sickens my stomach.

OP, this is where this awful "Pope", or really antiPope, hurts the many. The Diocese in Arlington focuses on what matters, which is the sanctity of our Eucharist, our Church, and Life itself. This antiPope, however, with his embrace of "mercy", engages in unilateral disarmament against the "social justice" people. These types, who infest County government, want to take over our land and resources all over the place to meet their vision of "Utopia".

If not for John Vihstadt and Libby Garvey's wins in Arlington, these people would be going after the Chancery's parking lot on North Glebe Road in Arlington, to build so-called affordable housing. And this antiPope would ORDER Bishop Loverde to capitulate.

When you build this type of place, you never know who will swing by in the middle of the night seeking shelter--people who would even snuggle with animals and bring back disease to the rest of us as they beg for their supper. No thank you. I am sick to my stomach for you, and especially for your daughter.

It is pretty amazing that you can attend church all of your life and not learn one single thing about the god that you claim to worship. Even an atheist can read the bible:

Deuteronomy 15:11 (ESV)

11 For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

Then out it in your neighborhood and away from our schools and seniors. Fairfax has said they plan on upping security and told the schools and senior center they advise mandatory security training. That shows that this shelter is incompatible with the current environment

That is one reason I posted about Reston. Drive over and see for yourselves. I am liberal and am appalled by whatever changed. Kids went to school in reston and used to meet friends at the library [yes shelter existed] for work etc.

Would not do that now. County sounds like the loser on that land swap. I guess it's part of Bailey's revitalization....that is tied into the undocumented issue.

You do know that there are plenty of poor white people or do they not count?

Here's the thing. You're only not liberal when it suits you.

Your candidate wants to back track on the use of the word "super predators". You little whiny bitch liberal can't even stomach homeless in your neighborhoods while us poor SOBs have to live with half way houses stuffed with black thugs. So god damn hypocritical. Live with it you whiny slugs , or stop the PC horseshit and vote trump to keep criminals locked up.
Are you really that darn ignorant. Your liberal politicians will be letting thugs out by the thousands. They better damn well go in your neighborhoods also

Today? The children in surrounding communities go to the shelter to help with meals, organizing food donations in their pantry, tutoring and babysitting the children. There has not been a single problem with this shelter that everyone was so enraged about.

Oh yeah? Where?

Katherine Hanley Family Shelter in Fairfax, close to Eagle View ES and Colin Powell ES.

If it is a family shelter, I see no problem with it. I lived not too far from one in a reasonably affluent area. If it is a homeless shelter primarily for men, yes, I would have a problem with it. There is a lot crime around homeless shelters for men, and some have mental health issues.

What is up with FFX? First a gun store opens up next to an ES, and now possibly a homeless shelter for men next to one?

I am not a liberal and I don't want homeless shelters in VA. That's what Maryland is for.

It's not about being poor-- it's the drugs a lot of them are on. There are a variety of reasons for being homeless and a big one is drugs and the way people act on them, in particular, what they will do when they desperately need their next fix.

It sickens your stomach. What is wrong with you? Just b/c they are homeless you believe their are all violent criminals. WOW.

You are pretty awful OP.

But lets just say you are right, homeless shelters have a curfew and typically the guests can't come and go as they please throughout the night, so based on your judgment of the homeless isn't it better to have them be inside a shelter safely away from the kids and elderly?

BTW if your kid goes to a "very good Catholic school" there is a pretty good chance there is at least one homeless child there on scholarship. Speaking of your daughter being in Catholic school I am pretty sure they are not teachering her to be judgmental and sickened by the less fortunate. Maybe you should go to school with your daughter tomorrow.

The outside of the library, the bathrooms, the seating areas inside and computer stations are now an extension of the homeless shelter. They also frequent the walkable Harris Teeter and Trader Joe's. Reston Town Center is NOT large so that's a hefty amount of homeless in one spot. Also that doesn't have a metro stop but there are buses.

This occured across the street from a police station which is where the library and homeless shelter are located:

Did I miss where it said the suspects were homeless?
