St. Pats vs NPS

I don't see any fault in that. Thanks so much

And you think the "best" equates with prestige?

I refuse to entertain this question.

Ugh.

They both are. St. Pats is a good feeder to the Cathedral Schools. NPS is a good feeder to Sidwell and Cathedral Schools. They are similar. Do you identify more with Episcopalians or Presbyterians? NPS might be slightly more Republican and Southern than St. Pats.

You can look for the child you have now but it's wise to keep an eye out for the child he/she will become at the school.

I'm an NPS parent and certainly agree with this, but, to be fair, most of the schools in this area turn out kids who are poised, well prepared and grounded in a way that will impress you.

This is true. Plus, for student panel type things, student led tours, etc. schools generally send out the kids they KNOW will make a good impression on prospective parents. That's kind of the purpose.

I'm a parent at one of these schools, and I think their prestige is the same. The community's feel different, but they are both excellent institutions.

Last year, the largest # of NPS kids went to Maret.

There were also a number of girls who went to Holton. And, yes, the NPS ties to the Cathedral schools are strong.

I don't know anything about NPS but I do know about St. Patrick's---if you don't mind seeing a line-up of mind bogglingly huge and expensive SUVs every morning and afternoon, with their accompanying drivers--stick think women in expensive workout gear--and the occasional dad in a $100,000+ sports car, then it's the place for you. The administration and teachers are lovely, but some of the parents are not so nice--unless you're one of them.

OP, As a parent at one of these schools with friends at the other, I will tell you this: This attitude is not welcome at either school. Get over yourself. Your kid is 3.

As another parent at one of these schools, I agree with PP. Please keep your preference for the need for "more prestigious" to yourself, as identifying yourself as that kind of parent won't make you many friends at either of these schools.

I'm not going to argue that our school is better (although obviously I think so because we chose it over the other). To make that that argument would be disingenuous- they're both great schools, equal in reputation and prestige. I'd say of all the schools in DC, these two are probably the most alike.
