I don't know about PP but I'm sick of my tax dollars going to illegalswhen there are plenty of poor citizens that can use it And frankly? Stop paying Mexico billions in aid money when they clearly want to send their poor here rather than help them. You want amnesty dems? Cut off aid money to Mexico and other Cental American countries and use that here on the USA |
| Well, he can't just shut down the EPA until he finds another agency to enforce the clean air and water acts. Those pieces aren't controversial anymore, but he could strip funding for all EPA activities that are not strictly enforcing the three basic laws the agency is in charge of. |
Somebody didn't learn about metaphors in school. Must have been some lousy public school with no standards. |
We don't give billions in aid to Mexico and Central America. |

I would say this is a reason to vote for Trump:
About 1-in-4 federal employees would consider leaving their jobs if Donald Trump is elected president, according the results of a recent survey conducted by the Government Business Council. Overall, about 2-in-3, or 67 percent said they would not think about leaving the federal government if Trump becomes president, but 14 percent said they would and 11 percent said they would "maybe" leave. Just 8 percent said they did not know. The share of Democrats who said they would leave is higher, with 42 percent indicating that they would exit or could exit. http://www.politico.com/blogs/iowa-caucus-2016-liv...president-218544#ixzz42Em9ItUZ But this probably falls in the same category as those who say they will leave the country if Trump is elected president. When push comes to shove, they will stay ........... and so will these federal employees! |
Why a reason to vote for Trump. You don't think some of these positions would be replaced? So what is the net result. A federal workforce with less experience overall - and probably not any smaller. |
| I realize that many of you have little regard for Federal employees. But when it comes to "abolishing" agencies, I get the sense that the average citizen has NO idea the depth of these agencies' responsibilities or the need for them in everyday life. Ask how the government reduction movement on the state level worked for states like Kansas and La. You can't abolish agencies and shrink government until you FIRST determine what programs need to be jettisoned or kept. Efficacy studies would take years to do properly. And for every job you cut, you likely add it somewhere else given the promises being made by the candidates. Despite the rhetoric of the day, no politician is going to bet his career on some half assed effort to "shrink" government. So any effort to abolish agencies would take years to achieve and political bulldozing that no one really wants to take on, no matter what they say. |

Since I know quite a few people - including family members - who work for the federal government I have heard them say that there is incredible waste in just about every aspect of federal operations.
Of course, the federal government does provide important services but I think one can massively reduce spending without affecting overall efficiency. I have been given specific instances of this happening - and this is in multiple agencies. |
The PP right above this post. I am not debating that. But you will find that this "waste" takes place in various forms throughout all the agencies. Could be redundant programs. Could be a seniority system that actually rewards people for being retired in place. Could be the inability to quickly fire ineffective employees. Some offices are understaffed while others are overstaffed. My point is that you can't just come in and lop off an agency here or an office there. If you want to do it right, there needs to be actual work done to recalibrate priorities and resources. People have this notion that government employees are fungible. Some are but a lot are not. |
Trump likes veterans but even you have to admit that VA needs help. |
| USAID could be folded into state |
You realize that the only people who quit are the people who can get new jobs easily, right? The dead weight would remain; there just wouldn't be any counterbalance. |
So true
|
You mean like the air traffic controllers Reagan sacked? Few government workers could get a job in the private sector let alone Canada which has tremendous economic problems. |
