I feel like Mayor Bowser is always admonishing us

Did you all feel scolded when a white man tells you to get the hell off the beach?

Bowser is well-briefed, but she's a bit of an empty suit and spouts platitudes. I wish she'd end the news conferences, or at least not insist that her department heads show up every couple of hours. Let them do their jobs!

By the way, who is the head of the DC Emergency Management Agency? He seems very sharp, matter-of-fact and take charge.

You mean the "governor of New Hampshire"? Uh, I mean New Jersey.

They spoke about how emergency personnel can reach residents if they need to and why they need us to stay off the streets (so they can be cleaned without anyone getting hit). That seems like enough information for now.

See, I thought he was the worst of the scolders. And should have done more to acknowledge a civic responsibility.

Look, it's fine to tell people to stay off the roads. But also acknowledge that a basic compact of government is that you have been elected in order to serve the people, and treat those people as constituents, not children. And act as though you are accountable for providing services and get the roads back up and running, not just someone hired to keep people off the roads.

Where the fuck are you going to go anyhow? Everything's closed. You shouldn't have to be out on the streets.

That guy is saying the same thing she is. Why does he get "very sharp, matter-of-fact and take charge" review but the mayor gets something different? I agree with the other poster. I think the critique of her is coming from somewhere else. I mean I don't understand what OP wants from her?

After reading this forum for a while then seeing the Mayor last night, it finally dawned on me why you all act the way you act.

Ask not what your government can do for you—ask what you can do for your government.

All government officials treat the people like infants because they consider you an infant and want it that way. Dependent on them. When you finally realize you're on your own, you can no longer be controlled. Next time, plan ahead.

Well he is a white man, so PPP can accept a scolding from him. No problem.

You have to admit that the average person is dumber than a pile of cat shit and needs to be spoken to like a 5 year old. It's sort of obvious that the city will do its best to clear off roads and get medics to people in need as fast as possible, isn't it? Do you really need a suit on TV to tell you this?

At least Bowser isn't as hopelessly inept as the mayor of Baltimore. She's just not the sharpest pencil in the drawer.

They're asking or citizen volunteers to shovel out some streets. Here's a better idea: get the prisoners from the DC jail, put chains around their ankles and send them out with snow shovels. Make 'em do some honest And useful work for a change!

She's probably learned a thing or two from uberPresident Obama

"That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang."

Unfortunately while most people act reasonable during these events, there are plenty who do act like children and really screw things up for everybody.
