Estranged from family member who basically never paid any attention to us, never saw us, never contacted us, and acted as if we were beneath their family. We just made it formal that we didn't want continued contact after a meet-up in which the person and their extended family were openly rude. So there's really no change in our lives whatsoever. What was informal is now formal; we have no contact.
