How do you go from being 2 parents working to 1.

Does the SAH handle everything except for cleaning?

Do you have a cook?

Didn't you post yesterday, OP? Who capitalizes Executive? Are you considering whether to make this move or have you already made it?

Yes, both posts she writes Executive with a capital E. Troll?

Definite troll.

No one triples their income with one promotion.

Executive is not capitalized in everyday conversation.

doubt it, the situations are too similar. I think she is attempting to explore the issue/decision, but is not the best writer/not familiar with DCUM style, where someone who was a better writer or more used to getting advice from DCUM would just explain the situation from the beginning.

You do whatever you want to do. You can now afford to outsource anything you feel is beneath you.

Your primary job is to look nice and entertain.

You're not supposed to let them know how they are IDing themselves!

On topic, I would really like a cook. I have no idea at what salary that happens, but I don't know anyone who has one.

I ended up SAH once DH's salary got to a certain level. It can make a lot of sense logistically but make sure it's something you're comfortable with. Even thought I was only making 1/10th of his salary, I would still have worked if I felt strongly that I would be happier and more fulfilled doing so. And yes, you can outsource anything you need to outsource.

You can get one of those prepared meal services (where they make all the food and you pick it up or they deliver) for a fraction of the cost.
Some of them even do multiple meals at once so you can freeze/refrigerate.

You'll need to get a cook, a housekeeper, and a household manager. It's going to be awful!

Outsource everything!

Driver, tutor, landscaper, gardener, personal shopper, house manager, maid, party planner, floral arranger, decorator, cook, pastry chef, maintenance/janitor, errand runner...

You'll never be alone!

SAHM is usually manager of the home to coordinate all these things. The question is does she have a budget on spending? If something breaks or you need a new bathroom or kitchen is there a monthly budget for that?

With the large 8000SF houses on multi-acre lots in Great Falls and McLean I could see the need for a home manager.

Why wouldn't the SAH handle the cleaning? like..what else is there if you're going to have a cook? I don't think sitting on your ass all day qualifies as SAHM in the sense that is used on these forums.

Pfffft. Any old person can have that! What of I change my mind at the last minute, hmmmmm? I definitely think a cook -- no, a chef -- needs to be at my disposal. I do have an Executive husband, after all.

I'm not the OP. But I am a SAHM who could do with some staff.

Is it worth the transition? I agree with other PPs that it can create a inequality in your relationship. I would recommend talking through the transition with a therapist.

Therapy, really?

context matters. Are we talking going from $90K as a government schlub to $270K as an association or non-profit "executive?" But still living in Gainesville and riding the MARC train 2.5 hours per day?
Or are we talking private sector near-executive to executive and comp near $1M???

Totally different lifestyles and intra-family dynamics.
