How does Boden sizing run?

It runs large, as does gap. I always order a size smaller than I do in other brands for both Boden and Gap.

I feel like Boden runs big. I usually go down 1 size and then it fits fine. Kids sizes are true to size.

I just placed my first order and NOTHING fit me! One dress was too big on top, one was too tight through the hips. Very strange fit.

I'm about the same as you, OP. Boden is for wider hips with a FLAT butt. The shoulders in the dresses run wide, even in the petite sizes.
Their knit things fit great though.

Boden runs LARGE.
I'm an 8 bottom at Banana and Jcrew and a definite 6 at Boden.
I've probably purchased 10 bottoms from each in the past 18 months and more before that so I feel like I really know their sizing.
I always fit in size 6 in Boden and rarely to never at Jcrew/Banana and even Gap.

They run big. If you compare the size chart from loft to the size chart from Boden, Boden is about an inch more in each category.

I'm 5'4", 110 lbs and buy their size 2, buying petite for bottoms because my legs are short.

PP again. What I also love about Boden, apart from their actual clothes, is that they have both garment and body measurements, so you can try to figure it out on your own, measuring similar tops or bottoms you already have and taking into account fabric stretch.

Big. I returned the only two things I ever bought from them.

Ironically, their kid stuff runs very small.

Try the petite 4, but you might actually end up going down a size depending on your body shape.

I wear a lot of stuff from Boden and have found that their bottoms fit people with small waists and bigger hips very well. A lot of times, I have to size up at other retailers and then get alterations made, but Boden fits me off the rack.

Oh yes, I agree with this. I wear almost all Boden and sometimes a bit of J. Crew. Boden is really good fit for hourglass, especially bottoms. I pay close attention to the garment measurements, but also to the reviews. Some items do run large or small and the reviews will usually be a good guide. Almost all other brands are too tall and skinny for me. I am a Boden 6 petite and length, waist, hips, all spot on.

I'm surprised at all the people who say Boden runs large. Have they changed their sizing recently? I haven't bought anything from them in a while but for years I always ordered up 2 sizes. I wear a size 0 or 2 at loft/Ann Taylor/gap/banana and could barely squeeze into a Boden size 4. So I would get 6 and that would usually work. Also conversely, I felt their kids clothes ran large, my 11 year old still wears some size 9 Boden pieces.

I always read the reviews b/c usually there are a few helpful ones re: sizing. I also usually but when they offer free shipping & returns & get 2 sizes of everything. I am 5'5, ~138 lbs, 34B and usually wear a 6 or 8 in boden depending on the piece.

I don't know that they necessarily run large, but I don't think they run small either. I think the proportions are just different from J Crew/Banana Republic.

I agree with other posters that Boden tends to cater to women who are more pear-shaped, so if you've been buying size X skirts from J Crew to fit over your pear hips (but have room in the waist), you'll find that you can get away with a smaller size at Boden. But, if you're apple-shaped and you've been wearing size X at J Crew, then you might find the waist is smaller in a Boden skirt and doesn't fit over your apple gut and need to size up.

Or, if you're me, you just end up having to get everything altered to fit over all your fruit anyway.

Boden runs big. Tops are cut boxy (works for my body type) but might overwhelm a small frame).
