On my 2nd cup of coffee... again

2 cups is no biggie

I totally understand how you feel and think this is very common for pregnant moms with older children. I, too, am totally dragging my mid-afternoon and have a 2 YO!

What works best for me is a short brisk walk around the block or a few moments of breathing and yoga. The extra exercise gets me going and helps me feel better. I can't sleep if I drink coffee this late in the afternoon, so even if I wasn't pregnant, it's usually a no-go for me.

Good luck! Don't feel bad about it, but try to cut it out as frequently as you can.

Um, yeeaaahhhh. This is totally doable while taking care of a 2yo and 5yo.

Both my kids turned out fine and I had 2 cups a day throughout my pregnancies.

I would have a 2nd cup and not bat an eye. I had 2 cups (and sometimes more!) with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies, and I didn't worry about it for a second. My first pregnancy, I was more nervous and held off on coffee, which wasn't hard because I wasn't a regular coffee drinker at that point. Once I became a parent and I got tired, I would not function without my morning coffee.

Yoga…lol, that sounds like advice Gwenyth Paltrow would give.

Depends on the kids. My 2 yr old and 5 yr old LOVE my prenatal yoga videos, and a brisk walk around the block is fun for them.

But I also drink coffee (and green tea, which a PP, who is fortunately not my midwife, said is a "no go") during pregnancy and don't fret about it. A walk around the block to get coffee sounds good to me. Motivation.

i really dont think coffee is bad while pregnant...as long as youre not drinking a giant carafe or something and as long as youre still also drinking plenty of water

second the read expecting better post. just finished that chapter. there's not much evidence that moderate amounts of coffee (like up to 4 cups a day) increases your risk of miscarriage. there's just no good evidence. almost all the studies are just correlational, and there's no evidence that any increase in miscarriage is caused by caffeine and not something else altogether. there was one actual experiment where women were asked to drink coffee everyday and some were given regular and some were given decaf. that study found no difference in miscarriage rates.

yes, it might harm, but it also might not. and there are about 1,000 things that might harm that we don't yet know about. if you need the second cup, i say go for it.
