I know there is lots of anecdotal evidence here that there are no side effects. But i considered it, and my concern was -- where do the eggs go after your tubes have been removed? No OB could give me a good answer -- they said just into your abdomen and then your immune system gobbles them up. But it does seem like it's weird to have cells just floating around like that where they shouldn't be, and i can see them attaching to other organs and creating issues.

potential long-term side effects like fibroids and endometriosis actually make sense if this is the case. My mom had a tubal when she was 28 and ended up with very bad fibroids and heavy bleeding and needed a hysterectomy in her 50s. She never thought it was connected, and encouraged me to get my tubes tied but I didn't do it.

(btw, i have the same question about vasectomies -- where do the sperms go? the answer is that they float around inside the abdomen. I mean, these are cells that have the ability to burrow into other cells. There is some evidence of immune system disorders in men who have vasectomies -- it happens far enough out in time that most men will not make the connection.)
