Question for the Savers Here

Luxury car? Fine.

Huge gas guzzling whale of a car? Not fine.

They choose to spend/save differently.

I don't care a lick what other people do with their money. I have no interest in expensive cars, but I spend a ton of money on wine. Everyone has their "vices."

Dinners out, a nice car, and occasional jewelry isn't going to drastically change lifestyle if you have income to support it.

Not sure if I'm the "truly rich" or not. I save money but spend on items and experiences I enjoy. I don't think I can take the cash with me when I die. That's a WHEN not an IF. I always keep that in mind.

If you're not sure whether you are truly rich, I can for sure tell you that you are truly stupid.

Not the PP, but you are truly jealous. I don't make anywhere near as much money, but I don't understand why you're calling PP stupid?

I think the sentence, "Not sure if I'm the 'truly rich' or not" may have led to pp's response. If a person with $20 million is not "truly rich" by anybody's standards, I just . . . I don't even know how to finish that sentence.

+1
It was just a matter of time where 20 mil will be declared not truly rich. Billion is a new million, I guess

Hhi of 800k 2 million dollar home paid off. Savings of about 1.5 million. We don't spend a lot on jewelry. We take nice vacations. I drive a Honda pilot. DH drives a range rover. DH also has a Porsche. We eat out a lot but not at extremely expensive restaurants very often. We spend alot at wholw foods. We are savers but also rather young. I'm 28 and dh is 34. We could save a whole lot more and I get nervous when we splurge.

Securing what?

We can afford to splurge. What I don't understand is people who want this and that and are constantly looking at the Joneses, trying to keep up. Its just not realistic to drive new cars every two years (and we all know its stupid to lease), not have your houses paid off, buy the best clothing, drink the best wine, ad infinitum. I mean really, it has to stop somewhere.

Most people I know are planning for their futures, and their investments do not allow for blowing all of their money.

If you are wondering why you don't have this or that, you really have only yourself to blame.

that makes zero sense. at least a large vehicle has utility. i.e., you think a mercedes coupe with 17 mph on premium gas is worse than a suburban at 15 mpg?
