I just started streaming Dead Like Me on Amazon and it's very good so far.
If you like it old school, there's also Kolchak: Night Stalker, Sapphire and Steele and the various BBC adaptions of M R James's ghost stories ( a Christmas tradition in the UK, believe it or not). |
God, I love Ian McShane. OP if you liked BSG, you'd probably love Deadwood. It's historical, not sci-fi, but it's excellent. It has some of the scope and feel of BSG. |
Dead Like Me is awesome. Mandy Patikin is just a great actor. |
Buffy the Vampire Slayer |
I can't believe no one mentioned this, but Angel was a much better series than BTVS.
I think you'd enjoy Babylon 5. I also enjoyed both the Stargate and Stargate: Atlantis series, but they aren't quite the same style as the ones that you enjoy, so they might not appeal to you. |
Not sure it's exactly Sci-Fi, but I really liked Pushing Daisies. |
Farscape |
Can't believe no one's mentioned Dr. Who. |
Buffy is my all time favorite. Season 2 was the best.
Almost Human has great dialogue, interesting characters. Orphan Black! The lead is fabulous! The mystery is compelling. Dh likes Walking Dead, Revolution, Defiance so I end up watching those too. Walking Dead is very well done but it's so dark and hopeless I can't bear it. Revolution's interesting and Defiance is okay but seriously with these shows and V and Falling Skies, I'm having a hell of a time keeping my post-apocalyptic shows straight. |
Oh yeah, Dr. Who and Torchwood! |
Yes! Also yes to Misfits, Being Human (british one too) and Fades. |
Try The Returned on Netflix streaming. It is a mix of sci-fi/horror. An amazing show. And just FYI, it's a French show so it's subtitled. |
Orphan Black is amazing!
I also like Warehouse 13, a quirky show about Secret Service agents that look for "artifacts", objects that give the holder strange powers but usually have downside consequences. |
Farscape is great (very underrated IMO) |
Yes, one of the best shows ever! |
