no room in private schools/MoCo options?

OP here. Thanks for the great suggestions and points of view. I finally found the MoCo school policy on non-resident students, but couldn't find anything specific about dollar amounts for tuition. this is all very helpful!

Here is the announcement of this year's MCPS nonresident tuition rates. Given the budget crisis currently facing MCPS I'd expect they would go up again next year.

The Board approved an increase in tuition rates for nonresident students for FY 2009, based on the approved operating budget, cost of debt service and current revenue funding for the capital budget. Elementary (including kindergarten) tuition will increase from $13,790 to $14,402; secondary tuition from $13,627 to $14,068; and special education tuition from $27,919 to $29,567 for students who are not residents of Montgomery County.

Probably better than Sidwell, STA, NCS, GDS and Holton too, right?

PP here. Yes!! I do think it can be better than those schools, between myself, my brother and my husband and his siblings, we should know, we went to those schools and the "feeder" schools as well. After 6th grade, however, I think the above are among the best options along with other schools.

Another reason I think this is that my classmates who came to my school in the 7th grade from area public schools were very impressive too and we all did equally well. So what advantage did I really gain from having started private school when I was in nursery school other than earlier admittance?

OP here. Many thanks to all posters for thoughtful and helpful ideas. It's just kind of daunting (and a little depressing) to realize how few options my DD has, all because she was born in 1996, not 97 and not 95 . . .

appreciate it!

-- You mean, earlier admission?
