| Surprised nobody mentioned Makoto which is a special event kind of place. Get the menu of the evening. |
| what about SEI? I'm always surprised that people don't mention it. I think it's better than Taro. Kaz is my second fav |
Haven't been to Makoto in a while, but the owner just passed away a few days ago.
|
| I think Sushi Taro is the only place in the area good enough for a big anniversary. |

Sushi Taro tasting menu. Kaz isn't really that special. Raku is not a 10 year anniversary night.
However, Makoto is also intimate and awesome on MacArthur Blvd. Then, there is a very small, hip one that's gotten raves around U St - http://sekidc.com/. Downside is no reservations for small groups. |
This. The chef prepares everything for you in a private room. Amazing. Best meal in years, and we go for my birthday each year now. |
| SEI? Never heard of it. Please elaborate. |
Not the PP, but SEI is a downtown spot. Very trendy. I think the food is good and the sushi rolls are creative, but not the best sushi around. Definitely worth trying. |

SEI is trendy but I don't think their sushi is that good. Feels like they are trying too hard to be creative but the end result doesn't taste that great. Other food is ok and I actually like their cocktails (tequila with ginger and strawberries--yes please!!!).
For top notch sushi, I vote Taro. |
| Chef's table course at Yuzu was amazing. Thu-Sat only. |
