Mine ate shrimp and crab at age 1. Loved it.

Our DS has been eating shrimp since 1.5. No allergies in our family and our ped told us it was fine to offer him whatever we eat.

We gradually introduced shellfish and nut products after 12 months.

we have no food or other allergies on either side, and no asthma, so my daughter had shellfish (shrimp, crab, lobster, mussels) sometime after her first birthday, but long before her second. She tried peanut butter at age 1, no issues. I figure it's good to find out about allergies in the right environment - at home, when you know the possible allergen, vs. being out at a restaurant and not suspecting the presence of shellfish or peanuts or whatever.

My DD is 20 months and has been eating shrimp since her 18 month appointment, since our ped said it was OK for her to eat whatever we eat, including nuts. We have no food allergies history, and she hasn't had any. We don't give her nuts really yet, but she has had the occasional peanut product, e.g., cereal, cookie, Reeses, and has been fine. Our ped said we could do pretty much whatever we wanted by 12 months, since we had no history. DD was also eating eggs and yogurt, etc. before she was 1. Now at 20 months she eats shrimp, lobster, crab meat, etc. She LOVES seafood!

My DD starting eating shrimp at 1. We really don't hold back on anything. It really does depend on your comfort level and family history.
