I would recommend that you read this books: Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders by Dr. Kenneth Bock. Most people that have children with apraxia/dyspraxia have this used this book successfully. There is also a great yahoo message board - childrensapraxianet is the name. I found out about it from the Late Talker book.

I have the book Special Kids for Special Diets, and that is a good book. It explains the need for the GFCF diet. I would also take a look at this book - The Kid-Friendly ADHD and Autism Cookbook: The Ultimate Guide to the Gluten-Free, Casein-Free Diet by Dr. Pamela Compart. She is a dev pediatrician who follows the DAN protocol and practices in Columbia (I believe), MD.

I can't remember if I mentioned, but are you giving your child fish oil? That is a fantastic supplement. I would love to speak to you offline. Just let me know. We have had the official diagnosis for over a year, but have been dealing with developmental delays since my son was over a year old. He has made a TON of progress. We still have a long road ahead, but it's amazing.

Just let me know if you need anything else.

Take care,
Tara

Hi Tara-
I haven't been back to the board for a long time but just saw your post. In the event you see this, I'd love to speak to you off-line. Let me know the best way to do this, and I'd be happy to contact you.

All the best,
Ali

We had an evaluation done at Skill Builders in Annandale. It took two hours and was under $250.

We've used fish oil - the pricy stuff too - and I haven't noticed a change at all unfortunately.

The only thing that has helped us is repeated sessions with speech therapists (3 1/2 hours a week total) and surprisingly adding OT to the mix was a HUGE help (1 hour/week).

Good luck!
