Cupcake frosting: what am I doing wrong?

To the poster who added marshmlow creme - yum! Did you color the frosting? If so, how did the color take? I want to make cupcakes for a child's birthday and I think marshmellow would be a big hit with a child, but I would want to color the frosting a few fun, bright colors.

Use paste food coloring (can get Wilton pastes at craft stores) for bright colors. Also great for coloring homemade play dough, cake batter, and cookie dough! Warning- a tiny bit goes a very long way, and you may want to wear gloves to keep it from coloring skin. I dip a toothpick into the jar and add it to my mixer bowl.
