I don't think I have ever heard my four-year-old actually count to 100. She gets bored easily. She definitely knew the pattern by the time she turned four--was skip counting 2,5, and 10 up to 100 at 3.5.
Once she made me count to 100 in the car and I obliged. I swear my voice gave out by the end. I guess I am not a talker. |

Agree, my child can count to 20 in three languages. Who cares. At 3 she now understands numbers because she can do addition and subtraction. That to me is a bigger deal then counting. |
I like you both. My daughter will be 3 next month and has a hard time with the teens, still. I always found numbers the hardest part about learning foreign languages myself (but then again, I never studied Chinese). |
If it matters, my son's kindergarten teacher wants the kids tone able to count up to 70 by the end of kindergarten. I wouldn't worry. |
First DS - rote counting somewhere around 3, but the one to one correspondence wasn't there yet (I think it that was only 1-20 or so).
Second DS is almost 4 and can't rote count past 20 yet. Not sure what his one to one correspondence is, its either 1 to 10 or 1 to 15. Its fine either way. |
I figured this was the case. DS doesn't go to kindergarten till next year so he will be good to go by then. None of my 3 children ever did ABCs or 123s early. I'm not really convinced it matters. |
Between 5 and 6. I think DD could do it shortly after 5, DS is almost 5 1/2 and has almost got it but not quite.

Agree. DC is 3 and counts to 100. She also speaks Greek (we are Greek) and I would consider the Spanish and Arabic to be a parlor trick. She can count to 100 but has no concept of greater or lesser numbers. She's learning math but its all memory, nothing more at this point. |
5 too! |
Age 4, and now at 4.5 he can count to 100 in three languages (Spanish, English and French). He just likes numbers and shows a real interest. But I donĀ“t think it matters in the long run. |
between 5 and 6. They do this in my son's K class. He mastered it slightly after 5. |
Who cares. I et he has tons of other skills and is perfectly capable,of learning. FWIW, my above grade level child couldn't do,it until he was seven. |

Hahaha....he is. I was only kidding about being concerned. He is just fine. For what it's worth, he can tell you which number is greater or lesser, but just doesn't know 1-100 all in a row. A lot of his friends can count to 100 but can't tell you which number is bigger. I don't really get it. |
