Random Punta Cana story: My Dh and I went with two other couples about 8 years ago. First night we're there, I notice my bra and bikini swimsuit top were missing. Thought I must have forgotten to pack them until I learned one of the other women on the trip experienced a similar disappearance (some of her lingirie missing as well). We never solved the caper but assume housekeeping went on some sort of selective panty raid. When we tried to report it, hotel management was not too interested in helping us solve it. They just got these creepy smiles on their faces. C'est la vie.
To second what others have written...had a great visit, beaches were beautiful, other than the undy incident people were friendly, and it was a great bargain relative to other beach vacations we've taken. We stayed in a Melia Resort - lots of Europeans on property (and lots of topless women and men in banana hammocks) who were fun and interesting folks to hang out with. Always felt safe on property, but really didn't leave resort except to walk up the beach during the day. My take was that it wasn't a Ritz Carlton experience, but for what we paid, it was a great vacation. Don't recall anything positive or negative about our customs experience but do remember being glad we got to the airport very early, as everything there works at island pace (slowish). have fun! |
