Pentagon Row. Rte. 123 in Tyson's (just west of the 123/7 interchange). There may be others.
There's one on at Mid-Pike Plaza on Rockville Pike, but that's Montgomery freaking County, so -- no wine. PP's are right that it depends on what you're looking for. If you're opening $50+ bottles of wine, not your place. You used the words "stock up" and "moderately priced," so I think you'll do fine there. Their selection is not huge, but if I recall (I haven't been in awhile), almost everything was reliable and drinkable. It's the mass-produced, widely available stuff, but that doesn't mean it's bad. If you're looking for $20 California Cabernet that doesn't suck and will keep a crowd happy, they'll have it. Stay between $12 and $25 and you'll be fine. If there's any real plonk there, it'll probably be under $10. The nice thing about places like Calvert Woodley or MacArthur is that they have the high-end snobs covered, but they can also turn you on to good non-mass-produced $10 wine that you won't find at big non-wine stores. They can find something for everybody. But not everybody can make it to their one-store, in-city locations. |
| Rockville world market does in fact have wine |
And they have moved to Federal Plaza. |
| Last time I was at Calvert Woodley they were kind of obnoxious to me. I live in MD but I'll happily trek down to Total Wine in McLean (or Alexandria) to stock up for the holidays. |
Woo hoo! I'll have to check it out. They didn't have it when I went a very long time ago, and I never went back. |
