If you are overweight and have irregular periods, I'd be concerned about PCOS.
Use ovulation predictors, but if nothing happens after about 6 months, go see an RE. Don't waste a lot of time. |
This is an honest question and not as all a critique, but were you having sex often when TTC? Even despite irregular periods wouldn't you conceive quickly if you had sex daily or every other day within the two week window of when you may ovulate? Of course predicting that 1 to 3 day window would be tricky but if you made the window longer that would be pretty fool proof, no? |
download a TTC app on your smartphone and use that as well....I found that it was helpful even in keeping track of your periods because I had the information on my phone and logged in I was able to tell when I concieved but most importantly I knew the date of my LMP which I never tracked before |
I have a similar question as the PP 2 above me- would you go the route of doing all the reading/ charting/ temp etc (its sounds so boring, kind of exhausting) immediately if you have a condierable amount of sex? We usually skip 2 nights during the work week because of schedules, etc. But pretty much have sex 5 days a week, sometimes closer to 3 on busy weeks/stretches sometimes every day no matter what/ multiple times on weekends in with not much going on. Just depends.
So my question is do you really need to get so proactive about the ovulation timing immediately- how long would you wait while its "not working" naturally- say if you are 33? |
PP: It really depends on how long you're comfortable waiting to get pregnant. Under 35, it can take up to a year to get pregnant even if there's nothing wrong with you. If you want to be more precise, you'd want to at least know you're having sex during the right time of the month. Having sex 5x a week AFTER you ovulate doesn't help you get pregnant. Having accurately timed sex 2 times during your fertile window will.
And wow, 5 times a week. Good for you. |
Thanks PP- it was my question you answered. Probably need to at least take some interest in my own reproductive cycle- who knows I might get into it like the good little nerd I am, just right now it sounds like studying for the SATs again! And I am sure 5x per week will go far far out the window if a child ever enters the picture! |
I will add another vote for ovulation predictor kits. It just takes the guesswork out of trying to pinpoint that small window of fertility, which is especially useful if you are irregular.
And then, acupuncture. Don't laugh! Was that what did it for me? No clue ... but it didn't hurt! It helped me to relax, which is always good. Good luck! |
