I agree with this. Generally speaking though, Columbia Crest is usually decent in that price range for Calif.

Yeah, I agree. I dislike nearly every wine I've tried from US & Australia.

Ferrari Carano Fume Blanc - not sure below 10, but below 15 and excellent.

Malbecs from Argentina! Great wine in the 9.00 to 13.00 range. Some we like: Gascon, Kaiken, Andeluna. Rodman's has good selection, but Total Wine in VA has best prices (good selections too).

Rosemount Shiraz.

Used to like Hardy's boxed shiraz, but I can't find it any more.

The Naked Grape pinot noir. Mark West pinot noir is only a little more expensive than your range, and it's quite nice.

Penfolds (Australia) - Cabernet or Shiraz

Five Rivers - Pinot Noir

Cavit - Pinot Grigio

Hah. I was just about to write about Dr L and Oyster Bay, too!

We have a couple hundred bottle cellar of wines we put up, but buy weeknight table plonk too. In the $10 range, Safeway and the other big grocery stores, especially if you get their buy 6 at once or whatever discounts, have very competitive prices/choices. They want to move product, so they don't have unknown, hidden gems, but also don't have duds.

That said, cruising Rodmans on Wisconsin and MacArthur Liquors, I've picked up plenty of good discount bottles, albeit more in the $10-12 range. The latter, especially, I've gotten some nice roses lately.

If you are willing to spend $12 to $15, your options increase dramatically.

Barefoot and Yellow Tail? OP, It is a good thing you are asking. You can do so much better than that. I completely disagree with the PP about US and Australia. Try Ken Forrester Chenin Blanc, Kim Crawfor Sauv Blac (you can find it for 11 if yuo try hard), Pillar Box Red,

Another vote for Black Box boxed wiine for everyday drinking.
