Um, when is G + vowel + consonant ever hard in the English language? |
I think of the matriarch of a Northern California biker gang. Perhaps with a scar from heart surgery.
<crickets> What, no fans of Sons of Anarchy out there? |
I think I'm very well educated and I had no idea. I also suspect the other pp who inquired is well-educated and didn't know. It would be an issue. |
get |
Hmmmm... Gang. Gallup. Get |
Have you ever left the US? |
Gum. Gate. Game. |
"Get" is an English word, or "go-getter" if you need something with more than one syllable. "Geller" is a common last name, and while it's of German origin, so is much of the English language. I still knew that "Gemma" was pronounced "Jemma," but that's because I know British people with that name and because I read books. |
and before you say "I mean in names..." Gertie |
Yes, I have lived overseas. Unless I missed something, OP's child will live in the U.S. and interact with Americans, so your question is moot. |
Is the OP living in the US? |
|
Are you one of them there fancy learning globe-trotters? |
GOTCHA!! |
It reminds me of that cartoon Gem or Jem. |
