Why Haymarket? What's the appeal?

Right, because that's the only way to judge a school. That's not a terrible rating, and other rankings have it as a decent school. Let's not forget the bar is really high around here b/c we have some of the best public schools in the nation. I'm sure the kids who go there still get a quality education and can turn out to be sucessful in their adult lives.

The schools in Haymarket are among the best in Prince William. Battlefield HS has a very good reputation, probably similar to Briar Woods in Loudoun or Westfield in Fairfax.

I compared it to Westfield and Briar Woods without checking the ratings on GreatSchools, the authoritative source on all such matters. Turns out Westfield, like Battlefield, is also a "7," while Briar Woods is an "8." So I was pretty close, and a GS "7" isn't "mediocre" anyway.

I would commute a few times a week from Haymarket/Gainesville to DC if I worked right near a VRE station-the VRE commute from there is nice.
