Driving DC to NY: Pit stop recommendations?

For a 1yo, I don't think it would make much difference if you went to a mall or any rest stop.

We've done the ride several times with my now 3yo. 3yo DS would get a kick out of getting a Burger King hat and hanging out at some mini mart for a few minutes.

If you actually want to break up the trip up with a half day excursion, Adventure Aquarium looks fun. We plan to check it out this year.
