Ugh, I hate euonymous. And I have never noticed any flowers on ours. It does stay fairly green in winter, though.
Second American Plant Co in Bethesda, they are very good. Get there early if going on the weekend, though -- they have a fairly small parking lot and get crowded quickly. I think there is a second location further up River Road, but the one I go to is across from the River Road Whole Foods. |

Camellias, while lovely, cannot take full sun.
'Manhattan' Euonymus is not invasive. Other types of Euonymus are, such as 'Winged' aka 'Burning Bush.' As for Azaleas, they do not like full sun. If you insist, you must ensure heavy watering the first few years. Even then, it will depend on the cultivar and is risky. I think the PP who wrote "skip jack" laurel meant 'Skip' or more accurately 'Schip' laurel. I have planted several of these, no problems at all. Very fast growing, long living, flowers, evergreen, can take shade and will grow like gangbusters in full sun. |
